That’s not all folks on the Looney Tunes Art Trail in Manchester

We’d just finished our awesome breakfast at Koffee Pot. Mum had vastly underestimated how long it would take to be served and eat, not helped by the fact we went earlier than planned. In a rare moment of being sensible, Dad said “we need to find something to kill a few hours”… “it’s too early to start drinking”. It definitely was. It wasn’t even 11am, although this was coming from a man that will happily drink at 5am in the morning in an airport because “it’s the law”. Strictly speaking it isn’t but there is something ingrained in the Brits to “get on it” as soon as their holiday starts, even if this means drinking before the birds start singing.

Today would be different. We’d started by going on the our obligatory street art hunt, which took us into the depths of the Northern Quarter. We were on Edge Street and Mum noticed Marvin the Martian on the wall of Common. She then noticed Lola Bunny and said “oh, I think I saw something about a trail” and viola, we had something to kill a few hours… and our legs. To celebrate the iconic Looney Tunes characters, artwork was created by street artist Captain Kris across 12 locations in the city.

We picked the trail up in the Northern Quarter, but it actually starts in Spinningfields and takes you through all areas of Central Manchester, from Market Street to the Gay Village, Deansgate to Oxford Road and Piccadilly to Printworks. Featuring eleven of the most beloved characters, from Bugs Bunny to Daffy Duck, Speedy Gonzales to Tasmanian Devil, this new street art welcomes people back to the city post lockdown.

if you like street art, Looney Tunes or both, it’s well with the few hours to walk around the city to take in the trail.
