Mausoleum of the Giants, Sheffield

Street artist Phlegm brought his latest solo work to his home town of Sheffield, where Mausoleum of the Giants is on display at a former cutlery factory on Milton Street in Sheffield. Running between 15 March and 6 April 2019, Dad drove Mum over to see it on the last day and everyone else had the same idea by the looks of things! Queues were up to four hours long on the final Saturday and all together 12,081 people visited the exhibition over 3 weeks before it closed that day.

Sheffield’s adopted son Phlegm created this new work literally on a giant scale. The illustrator and cartoonist previously earned recognition and acclaim for his intricate murals and first developed his magnificent sad creatures as illustrations in self-published comics. In this incredibly immersive installation, massive sculptures occupy halls, corridors and rooms of the abandoned factory with their cumbersome bodies. if you didn’t manage to get to see the Giants in real life, The University of Sheffield have produced a 360° tour available via the link above.

Mum and I queued that long that Dad had to leave us to get the train home, but we didn’t mind as it was a pawsome experience! Definitely worth the wait! So happy we made it!
