Busy like a Manchester Bee

Back from Berlin and on a British soil 😃 but worry not my dear friends, the adventure is not over just yet 😆 We’re going on a bee 🐝 hunt 💛 starting at Manchester Airport.

The Bee in the City art trail consists of 101 giant worker bee sculptures, each decorated with with their own unique design created by local artists. The bees will make Manchester their home for 9 weeks this summer. The trail covers some of the city’s most famous locations including Manchester Cathedral, Albert Square, St Peter’s Square, Piccadilly Gardens, Spinningfields, and the Northern Quarter, plus further afield in Salford Quays, Wythenshawe and more.

Each bee represents Manchester’s achievements, from its legendary music scene to scientific discoveries and industrial heritage. The bee trail will also include 131 little sculptures, designed by children from schools and youth groups. We had a very successful bee hunt considering Dad gave us 2 hour deadline, we were back in a car within 1 hour and 59 minutes 😎

Bee in the City will be in Manchester from 23 July to 23 September 2018. You can find out more or download the map by following the links. There is also an interactive app you can download for £1.99. The trial is a great way to see areas you’ve never explored before and I’m beary sure you’ll want to Bee in the City this summer! At the end of the project the bees will be sold at an auction in October, with all of the funds being donated to The Lord Mayor’s We Love MCR Charity.
