Hamburg is apparently deemed one of the best city’s in the world for a night out, the party capital of Europe. Well that’s all well and good, but if you like to day drink like my humans do, then it takes some doing to find a place to go! In fact, it takes some doing to find a decent bar full stop. Hamburg got the thumbs down from us in terms of decent drinking establishments, it has to be said.
After an unsuccessful hunt for a decent bar on day one, we didn’t hold out much hope for day two. We had pretty much walked all around the city, finding the odd place that was OK, but nothing to write home about. Then, just before we were about to give up and ironically just minutes from our hotel, there it was… the shining star in the night… the light at the end of the tunnel… the Barley & Malt Craft Beer Bar. Yes, beer and mighty fine beer. It really was the amber nectar!
If you’re in the city then you simply have to check this place out. The sign outside said no stag and hen parties, so this place just got even better. From the ridiculously refreshing draft IPA to the stupidly sumptuous pulled pork burger, it could do no wrong. Having found it very hard to spend our money so far during the trip, we were now spending it like it was going out of fashion… Jagermeister’s all round!
