It’s Dad’s birthday next week so we went to Liverpool to celebrate a little bit earlier and what a meal we have had, yummy 😋
Now it’s fair to say, Dad loves a good steak. Mum and Dad had searched online for a place to eat in Liverpool and at the exact same time, both came up with Cowshed on Seel Street. On their website they say “Welcome to our house of beef, a place for steaks, drinks and good people. If you love beef as much as we do, you’re in the right place!”… well sounds like our kind of place then!
The restaurant is over 3 floors and is a thoughtfully laid out contemporary dining space. We were taken to our table, which was in one of the upstairs rooms and ordered a couple of appetisers to keep us mooving whilst we waited for our steaks to cook. We had already decided to have “The Greedy Cow”, which on the menu was noted as “Indecisive? Why not try the 3 steaks to the left on one plate”… Dad wasn’t indecisive as such, he just wanted them all! So we had Flat Iron, Rump and Ribeye steaks, all cooked medium rare. For sides, we had waffles and eggs and savoy cabbage and green beans in chorizo cream, you also get to choose 2 sauces. To drink, we had a bottle of Las Manitos Malbec/Shiraz, which 100% complemented the meal. Wow!
The day after, Dad had a little surprise for Mum. In all the times we had been to Liverpool, he’d complete forgot to take Mum to the Bombed Out Church. St Luke’s Church, more commonly known by locals as the bombed-out church, is a former Anglican parish church in Liverpool. It stands on the corner of Berry Street and Leece Street, at the top of Bold Street. An iconic landmark in Liverpool, once a place of worship is now an empty, roofless shell. The last bomb site in Liverpool, St Luke’s is testament to the brave people who lived and died during the May Blitz of 1941. Only the gardens were open today, so we’d have to come back another time to see the interior, but we could still soak in the history and it definitely pulled at our heart strings.
