Bryn de Bear

A grin like a Cheshire cat in Llandudno, Wales

It was my special day today. “Happy Birthday to me, Happy Birthday to me, Happy Birthday dear Bryn, I’m a bear and I’m three!”

Today’s birthday treat was a trip back to where it all started three year’s ago, to Llandudno in North Wales. We were here to do the Alice in Wonderland trial… Mum is a tiny bit obsessed with Alice, so the fact there is a connection with my birthplace makes it even more special! I got a little bit carried away on the journey there, I did actually get to ride shotgun whilst singing ‘Shotgun’ by George Ezra… “Home grown alligator, See you later, Gotta hit the road, Gotta hit the road” 🎶

Before a long walk we first needed a bear size breakfast at Kitchen 50 Six and it was super delicious, best mushrooms Mum has ever had 😋, a real treat for the birthday boy 😄 and the perfect fuel for our Alice in Wonderland trail 😊👣👣👣

The trail is the perfect way to explore Llandudno, whilst discovering the connections of Alice Liddell (the real Alice in Wonderland) who lived in the resort in the 1860’s. Starting at the Tourist Information Centre and using the map as your guide, you follow 55 bronze cast Rabbit footprints around the trail. The Tourist Information Centre can be found in the Victoria Centre, Mostyn Street, which is the main shopping street and parallel with the promenade. We bought the map from the Tourist Information office for £2.99 but you can also download apps to follow the trail – follow the link for more info.

We had a beary fun day out with lots of photo opportunities, discovering a plethora of Alice in Wonderland sculptures dotted around the town. The tour takes you past the Town Hall, into Madoc Street and onto the Promenade and into the beautiful Happy Valley, where you can relax, picnic and enjoy a scavenger hunt. From the Camera Obscurer you can gain magnificent views of this amazing Victorian seaside resort and the majestic West Shore, when the trail takes you via splendid Haulfre Gardens and to the base of the Great Orme.

As you walk round you really do get “curiouser and curiouser”! Oh boy, what an amazing day I had. It was wonderful to come back where is all began and check all of those Alice in Wonderland statues and we even got to adopt a dragon ❤️❤️❤️,
