Bryn de Bear

I’m in wrolove with Lamus, Wroclaw, Poland

It’s my fourth time in Wroclaw and I can’t believe I didn’t write about this place yet! My Mum is from the city and this has always been her favourite bar and it becomes our local every time we visit.

Amongst the sex shops, restaurants and bars of Bogusławskiego, you’ll find Lamus, situated in one of the arches under the railway tracks. It’s dark inside with bare brick walls and dead trees chained to them. My Dad calls it the tree bar. There’s an eclectic playlist of underappreciated or unknown music, but the main draw is cheap, delicious beer. A tribute to Czech brewing, the beer list offers a range of bottled varieties or choose between the dark, wheat, premium or unpasteurised Primator on tap. There are craft beers as well and once you’re full of beer, there is a host of different flavoured Polish vodkas, that my Dad has come to love. It’s usually after only one pint that he shouts “shots” to Mum! “Already” she says, rolling her eyes 😱

The weather was sunny and warm this time we visited the city, so all the pubs and restaurants spill out into the street in front of the arches, which gives the place an even more lively atmosphere. Although Lamus doesn’t serve food, don’t worry if you get hungry – they are more than happy if you grab a pizza from the shop next door and bring it into the pub to eat 😋
