M83 at O2 Ritz, Manchester

The O2 Ritz is a live music venue on Whitworth Street West, Manchester, England. Built in 1927, it was designated a Grade II listed building in 1994. If there’s one thing Manchester’s legendary Ritz nightspot is famous for, it’s that springy dance floor and it went on to become one of Manchester’s best-known nightclubs and live venues – having hosted the likes of The Beatles, Frank Sinatra, The Smiths and the Happy Mondays.

It was M83’s turn to grace this famous venue and they certainly put on a great show! Energetic and unmissable! Electronic or post rock, however you want to pigeon hole, they nailed it! Although the Ritz is not my favourite venue, the gig was without doubt one I’m glad I didn’t miss.

Sometimes when you see a band live you do end up disappointed, they just go through the motions of playing their latest music live. Not M83. Every single one of them enjoyed every single minute on stage. There were a few tracks that I didn’t watch with quite the same enthusiasm, but to be fair these were whilst they took a breather on stage. The majority was high intensity and difficult to not both smile at and stomp your foot to.
